Edging slowly along the shore, only their whispers invade the silence of this realm. The funeral procession grounds to a halt: mere metres from the dunes. The monoliths of their work stood against a greying sky. Tinges of light echo through the clouds, carried by whispers offshore. Here, and here only, do these rooms remain. Voices call from the windows unaccompanied by the presence of words. The streets remain silent. The monolith sleep, unperturbed by the footsteps reverberating through their walls.
A hum hangs distant in the air. Heard, yet untraceable beyond the wires extended between the steel skeletons lining the hills beyond. The waves continue to speak between themselves. The grey peels slowly from the sky; a patina carefully etched by the memory of the artist. Warm hues, one by one, meld into the light. Unfurling through the remnants of windows, finding space to begin. The monolith sleep, unperturbed by the stirring within.
